Lostock 1st Night Storm Approach

Hi All

We had a pretty good 1st night at Lostock, however we all noticed lightning activity to the east off the coast during the early evening. I climbed the eastern ridge around midnight to grab this shot.

We got hit pretty hard from around 3.30am for about 3 hours.

it was forming directly overhead then moving in your direction. I did think of those with gear setup and also who would be snapping some fantastic lightning shots

Thanks Jason. Luckily that tree was smack bang in the middle of the action where I had just climbed over the rise.

Great shot!
You guys got a few close strikes.
There appears to have been a lot of activity to the west in the wide view.

Ha! So that crazy walk up the hill in the darkness netted something worthwhile. Great shot.

Hi Davin, it's from Blitzortung.org which is a user participation network.
The maps above are from Lightningmaps.org which is a sister site to the network created by one of the participants.
To get the level of detail in the images above you must be a participant, but visitors can still zoom in to reasonable detail.
This is the Station list (participants) for the Oceania region. More participants are welcome
