M83 Southern Pinwheel Galaxy

I did this last night with the bright waning moon behind me. It's not the greatest, but it's probably the best galaxy image I've done from the backyard (not that this is that good though ).

Of course, I'll revisit this with one or more these conditions: 300 sec vs 120 sec subs; no moon; dark site. I'm unsure if doing 300 sec subs from my backyard will give anything better since LP may overwhelm. I'll still give it a try and see.

I noticed a lot of crap on the flats, so I think I'll have to do some cleaning to remove some of it.

Mine came up quite similar and I got 21 minutes in 3 minute chunks - done two nights ago - the sky looked like soup.

I will try again next spring as my gear is all put away now for my holidays.

Have you had much luck with over 3 min subs, like 5min+ from your location? I'm assuming you're about as light polluted as I am.

Good luck with the holidays... I think I need to organise some of those soon.

There's one five minute sub in that pic above, but it was very washed out - SN was really high (or low, whatever it is when it's bad!!).
With it being a new mount, I'm still experimenting - I live on acreage so have no light in my block (just next door's dogs and they only make audible noise rather than visible but just as annoying).
I'm away from Gold Coast lights, but Beenleigh is a pain - there's a lot from the motorway. Can't get M31 as a result of it. Though I did once get a fuzzy from it.
Biggest problem is my trees need pruning - gonna cost me a bomb when I get back.
I did some 5 min from here last night on Carina, but my guide cam was loose and I got a series of wierd but tiny trails each one in a slightly different directions as the camera spun round!

Well it seems you've got less light pollution than me. It's all around me, to the east is the glow of Brisbane and a streetlight right outside my fence.

I don't have dogs for noise, but the neighbours have something that beeps every second - and they've gone away for the weekend. :/

I've got other data to process as well including eta car. All of it at 2 min subs. Tonight I'm going to experiment with longer subs and see how LP effects, hopefully before the moon rises. I can not believe how it looks like we're getting at least 3 cloudless nights in a row.
