shooting starts

Hello everyone
Tonight is going to be a shooting start night, and I was wondering where could be the best place close to gold coast to see it.
I was thinking in mt tamborine, but my friends said that its a bit dangerous to drive at night time for that road.
Can someone suggest any place?

Thank you so much

Hi Irene and welcome!

Tonight's meteor shower is best suited for people in the northern hemisphere. if you are taking a look though you would probably best to take a look around 4am.

a lot more information is below:

The eta aquarids meteor shower is in about 2 weeks which will be better suited to view.

Also something else you may be interested in seeing is the partial solar eclipse on Tuesday .. more info here http://astroblogger.blogspot.com.au/...l-29-2014.html

Cheers,

Rusty

About 0230 this morning after dropping off a friend from picking her up at the airport, I saw one of the better persistent tail meteors I have ever seen (and this was on a partially cloudy night).

You mentioned partially cloudy night. Blah! I agree. I checked at 1:45 AM and again 3:30 AM. So disappointing. and that moon was there.

Bed was next option.

Looking forward to 2 weeks.

Cheers
