The Luxurious $94 million super yacht - 'La Masquerade'

While I was down at Sydney harbour last week to see the cruise liners that are visiting, I wondered about this lovely beauty that was mored near the Overseas Passenger Terminal.

It's the Luxurious Super Yacht - 'La Masquerade'.

Built in 2003, this 55m craft is owned by Sir Robert Ogden and is valued at $94 million dollars.
Truly a work of art, it's a floating palace featuring fully air conditioned cabins, a massive marble bathroom with jacuzzi, gilded gold leaf woodwork throughout and a full time personal chef with an assistant.

In the mid-deck section is a stowed Comittie Portofino (7.5m mahogany speedboat) which can be lowered into the water from on-board.
The owner is said to spend around 3 weeks a month on board this wonderful vessel.

The image above is taken with a Canon 20D , EF 24-105 mm L set at 24mm, f/8 , ISO 200 , 2 panel panoramic HDR.
Each panel is a HDR stack of 16 frames ranging in exposure up to 60 seconds using PS CS3 Merge-to-HDR and then the two resulting HDRs stitched together in Adobe PS CS3 Photo-merge.

As you can appriciate there was slight movement of the yacht during the exposure times hence the slight blurring in places of the final image.

Hope you enjoy.

What a stunning yacht,

Lovely image Andrew,
A fitting result for the effort you put in to producing it.

Shaken, not stirred

Hi Andrew,

Nice shot!!!

The boat itself looks very "Bond - James Bond".

If you've ever had the chance to get to Monaco, you see a lot of
this type of bling floating on the harbour there.

Once again, a really nice piece of photography.

Best Regards

Gary

Yep....it is....built by Amels Holland BV. Does 15kt and cruises at 12kt. 5000nm range. 10 guests and 13 crew. Steel hull, aluminium superstructure.

Fantastic photo, and awesome boat. My Beneteau could fit on it as a dinghy!

Cheers,
Jason.

Thanks everyone, it was fun to take photos of such a lovely vessel.

Here is a single shot of the mahogany speedboat which is stowed inside the main ship.
Had to crop and enhance it for clarity.

Thanks Phil, yes a guided tour would have been nice but I count my blessing I didn't get arrested for spying LOL.

So many people stopped to ask me if I knew who owned the yacht, thinking I was commissioned to photograph it.
These days the general public automatically assumes you're a pro photographer if they see you with a tripod and a DSLR with a large lens.

Fantastic image Andrew .
If i was there i would of thrown my camera into the drink in sheer protest of the quality.
Anyway the backdrop of the Harbour Bridge gives it the yay for the day.
Cheers Kev.

Hi Andrew,
I have already posted a comment on this thread, however I keep coming back to your image, simply stunning.

I honestly think Houghy has a top idea, regarding selling this image to the Yacht owner.

If I owned that Yacht and saw this image of it, in such an iconic location, I would want the image and would be looking to put the photographer on a retainer.

Regards
Trevor

"The Yacht"

I'm looking out my window overlooking the Honolulu Harbor at the yacht now. If I can only figure out an angle to get a tour . . . .

The only thing wrong with it is it has no Observatory on board has a good spot for one though and no problem getting to dark sites but tracking might be a problem

Hummmpf.
Rather...."plasticy".
Most certainly NOT a Benetti!
Great shot though! Beautifully framed & exposed.
I feel the ever-so-slight softness actually adds to the image.
Reminds one of stumbling back to one's "punt' after a sufficiency of Kristal.

Thats a yacht ????????
Hmmmm ... not in my world it isnt, however its one hell of a photo... Great picture.
Must be good to spend 94 mill on something .. sell it when the ashtrays are full for 70 mill and not give a hoot about the other 24. If the truth be known, the whole 94 mill is probably just playing money anyway.

Thanks for the pic Andrew
