Seeing conditions not good.

Been waiting so long to do some viewing i decided to take a peek at Mars a little earlier, about 9pm ( sunshine coast ) but alas it was too blurry, i could make out the little polar cap but seeing conditions are not good so that was it.
Skippy Sky said conditions would be poor but as the stars did not seem to twinkle very much i took a chance, probally too much water vapour floating around higher up.
As the evenings start to cool i hope conditions will get better sooon.
One question for those on the sunshine coast / Brisbane area, have you had dew problems with your SCT in the cooler seasons?

Hope you have good seeing soon.

I am glad my FINAL piece of the FSQ106 puzzle has not yet arrived (arrives tomorrow thanks UPS!), as I would have been tempted tonight as it SEEMS OK.

Glad I didn't bother!

I have only ever had dew issues 3 times in 2 years on The Coast that the homemade dewshield did not take care of. Had to use a portable hair dryer (on the SIDE, not directly on the lens) only a couple of times.

I will need to travel for imaging now anyway after moving to Maroochydore, as whilst my yard is a decent size, we live in a 3 story condo which kind of restricts all westerly viewing, and the condo block next door ruins a good portion of east, South OK, north so so. Still think Beerwah/Glasshouse on my mate macadamia farm will be best, but bloody cold! Or even one of the now defunct former cane fields if I can find a friendly farmer,

we REALLY need a Sunshine Coast Club, BADLY, I usualy like solo under the stars, but I think it high time we formed a club - even if just for the safety in numbers bit.

Sunshine Coast Uni is FINE with me using the grounds (and has 24hr security), but lighting can be an issue, but has VERY good horizons from the sports fields.

Yes a club would be great, meet once every month or two, meet others and buddy up viewing together now and then, plus get assistance when needed from those with experience.
When conditions are good for a while I may take a drive up Montville way, the area of sky available from up there will be huge.
