"i'm back!"

40 years almost to the day necessity demanded that I sold my 4 inch Unitron refractor. After a golden decade which included the manned moon landing, perhaps the greatest adventure mankind had ever embarked on, I hung up my eyepieces.
My interests in astronomy and space science in general never waned, but apart from several pairs of binoculars of questionable quality and performance I have lived 40 years without a "scope."
But my friends the drought is over.
Before me stands a 115 diameter objective apochromatic mounted on an HEQ5. So, the adventure begins again! All I need now are clear skies and great seeing...My my some things don't change!

Welcome back; nice rig. What brand is the scope? I bought my first
scope in '56, although it wasn't a Unitron, unfortunately.

The scope is a United Optics refractor from Astronomy Alive in Melbourne.
Cris there has been a great help and is a wealth of knowledge.
The objective is a triple lens with a "fluorite" central element.
At the first opportunity I will join some of the local "iceinspace" crew to road test the scope and compare its performance with other similar scopes and write a review which will include a number of opinions.

On your scope , congratulations and I cant wait for a look thru it , sounds very nice indeed , also any chance of a few photos ? I know everyone is waiting patiently for a few .

Hey Peter I think Brian is referring to us mate , your sweet WO 110 and my 127mm Istar , it will be a great night indeed 3 quality refractors to play with , I cant wait .
Oh yes back Brian .
