Stellarview F80 Finder - "Loose" threads.

I am using a Stellarview F80 as a finder. When fitted with the reticle illuminator, at certain positions the leveraged weight of the illuminator overcomes friction in the threads and causes the focuser to rotate under gravity.
I believe that a 'heavier" lubricant might overcome this problem.
Has anyone had similar experiences? What fixes were attempted and what were the results? Suggestions? Lubricant spec?

Try a turn or two of plumbers tape.

Off topic, how do you find the Finder? What eyepiece and hows the edge look?

I have the 50mm R.A. finder and had the same problem. Luckily the illuminator failed, so I tossed it and no further problems!

I use the 60mm version. None illuminated. Works like a charm. The included eyepiece is good. Edge correction is rubbish. It is F3.75 finder though. I sometimes put the ES 24mm in and it functions as a sort of richfield scope.
Not useful as a finder at that point though, as the cross hair is located within the included eyepiece rather than the diagonal like a GSO finder.

Makes star hopping in Sydney much more possible.
