Solar mosaic 22-3-2014

My first image that I feel ok about posting having got my ZWO AMI 130 mono camera a few weeks ago. Taken a while to learn how to drive it, Registax and to blend prom and disc images in Photoshop. Still a way to go yet, so any suggestions much appreciated.

3 disc images, 2 proms, taken with ED 80 & Lunt 50mm Ha/B1200

Thanks for looking and for any suggestions.

Patrick,

you've gone to the dark side

Not a bad first effort if I must say so myself.

Just don't tell me that you moving up the SV field and leaving us a man down in Dob City

Fear not Paul, I will only dabble in the dark arts by day! It is frustrating enough by the light of the day star to fiddle with camera, computer and scope. The night sky stays visual only for this little jelly bean!

Paddy, why did you have to shoot it as a mosaic?
I have a ZWO ASI130MM on order and I chose it over the ASI120MM because of the larger sensor which should allow a full disk in one shot.
Does the ED80 give an image too large for a full disk?
I have a Lunt LS60 and I used a calculator that showed I should get a full disk with the ASI130MM.
Your pic has plenty of good detail, it's encouraging to see that the camera works :-)

The ED 80 with the AMI 130 is just shy of a full disc. I also find observing visually that the centre of the disc has a slightly different focus to the edges, so I wanted a panel for it at different focus.

the focal length of the LS60 is 500mm and the ED 80 is 600, so I think you should be fine for the sensor to do a full disc.
