Shipping suggestions.

Who does everyone use for shipping. As I just looked at DHL quote tool, and it was over $1400 for my mount. If anyone has a good place to look for shipping that would be awesome.

Thanks

Hi Michael, i used to use https://www.smartsend.com.au for shipping guitars all over Australia. They are a kind of broker service but only ever saw drivers from Couriers Please or Fastway. Never had any issues with damage.

If you put your eBay details in as well you get a 15% discount. I have used that even for sales that didn't go through eBay :-)

I've used temando before for large and odd sized packages with no dramas.

I've used Pack & Send http://www.packsend.com.au/ for quite a few years now for telescopes and other goods. Never had anything but good experiences with them.

I use E-GO for large stuff Interstate.

Once sent an 20Kg Oak Cased, 90mm refractor to Melbourne for $7.70.

Depot to Depot transport is peanuts, insurance and door to door is another matter.

Me to, BUT, there is a thread going about a missing PMX. I've tried to push this mob to do the right thing and they are being proverbials. I no longer use them and wouldn't recommend them on the basis of how they treated an IIS member... USE REAL CAUTION here.

It might be helpful if you gave us an idea of where you are shipping to and from. I'd guess you are talking international shipping with a mention of DHL and $1400?

P&S comment

I found P&S depots vary in what they charge to pack items from very dear to bloody outrageous, pack it yourself if you do use them. I have had no issues with the actual shipping within Australia, They pick up and deliver on time.At least so far.

Agree!!!

I've used e-go several times to ship scopes across the country and up the coast. Always done depot to depot.

Never had an issue. Great service and well priced. A key to success is the quality of the packing by the sender. They MUST do a good job.

Thanks
At that price you could get the plane ticket and put the mount in as luggage and hand deliver it?

Thanks for the heads up. I saw this this thread originally in the classifieds section (I generally don't visit the general chat forums) so I was unaware of that thread completely.

I'll be keeping an eye on it though...

Cheers,
Bret

My wife & I have used Hunter Express many times, for both large & small parcels (mostly ebay sold items etc). Never had any problems and the thing I like most is that they do depot to door. So we drop it off at the depot (in my case Dandenong South) and they deliver it to the recipients door, saving us money. You could do depot to depot as well to save more.
