tempreture of CCD chip?

ok.. my CCD chip is sitting at 5.5 degrees and im getting abit worried. Current temp is at 3-4 degrees in melbourne and i can't feel my fingers. my UHC-S filter is actually glued to the rings on my DSI thats how cold it is. can't unscrew it. was wondering if this is a safe tempreture for imaging? It shouldnt do any damage to the actual CCD chip itself?

tthhanksssss *shaking*

Hi Eric,

I know that 3-4 degrees is very cold but many places get into the minus degrees, especially where there are frosts. I would say that so long as you don't get any moisture internally on the ccd everything would be fine. With the filter on the DSI should illiminate any chance of that happening.

Hi
My G-Star got specified temperature range from +50 to –20 Degrees Celsius. I would think that this is about same as on most of CCD cameras

Not at all Eric..most ccd's specialy the ones that are peltier cooled are set to image in below zero tempertures.

Even my guide camera I set it for 2 degrees which is about 15 degrees below ambient up here.
