Some first attempts

Had a great night last night at MPAS with some great assistance from Steve Mohr (stevous67) - thanks Steve!!

Here's a few photos that I took..

Details: Nikon D3100, 12 x 30sec exposures (47 Tuc), 9 x 30sec (Eta), 4 x 30sec (Tarantula), ISO 3200, stacked in DSS, no other processing other than converting from TIF to JPG and file compression so that they could be uploaded.

As always, comments welcome..

Cheers, Michael.

Hi Michael,
looks pretty good for a first attempt!

One thing I noticed is the lack of colour - is that intentional or perhaps due to DSS?

Reason I ask is that I've had issues with colour being removed by DSS. Try playing around with the RGB/K levels/luminance/saturation graph at the bottom after you stack. Not sure I've really worked it out myself but I've had some success with preserving colour. Above all keep at it

Those are looking pretty decent. That 47 Tuc is quite nice.

Good shots Michael Yeah you may have to play around with some colour sliders, welcome to the world of image processing

Looks like a good start anyway, what scope and mount are you using?

Cheers
Jo

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your feedback!

The main reason for lack of colour is because I didn't really know what I am doing in DSS while stacking these photos (still don't). I have played around a little with Adobe Lightroom 5 since posting them but still have grasped the concept. No big deal, I have plenty of time left to figure it out and having fun while doing it!!

Jo, I am using an NEQ 6 Pro and BT200. Am I right in assuming you added colour to the photos using DSS, or did you use another package?

Thanks again, Michael.
