It really is amateur astronomy law isn't it?

Got my first tracking mount on Friday haven't seen a star sense.
I got it out last night as I had one to two minutes in between cloud cover and it's forecast like this for the next week. Waah

Yes, picked up my new (to me) secondhand solar telescope early last week, no sun till the weekend :-)
Waiting on a new equatorial goto mount to arrive this week, assuming day/night cloud cover will continue unabated throughout March :-)

It sucks I had 100% clear sky on Sunday during the day. The SECOND the stars came out clouds rolled over top of them. Like, the clouds followed the night sky.

Happened to me too! New 12" toy to play with but took 2 days to try it out. It's a conspiracy I tell you.

It's cloudy again tonight
I failed at setting up the Synscan last night so going to try again tonight between the cloud cover. If I can't use it, I'm going to make sure it's 100% ready for when it is clear haha.

I'm waiting for my mirror to cool down. I'm at a new spot I found via google earth near serpentine. Less than an hours lazy drive from R/ham. Looks like it's going to be reasonably dark for this close to town. Big open space and sky to the east. I haven't been axe murdered yet but the night is young.

Ps the internet connection here is pretty good too

I'll pm you the co ords. Now the night is setting in there is a fair bit of glow toward perth so it's not dark dark but it's better than my backyard but not too much of a hike. To get good dark you have to travel about 2 hrs. Jupiter is starting to look fine in the 28 but the mirror is still cooling. I'll sing out next time we're out but won't be for at least a month I think. Now back to Jupiter before the red spot swings away

looks like the curse of this thread strikes again as soon as I stopped posting the wind picked up and stayed up all night ruining the seeing and making any observing unpleasant. A gust blew the ladder over chipping a chunk out of my mirror box

I had a Malcolm Tucker moment, expletives were uttered, teeth were gnashed and lessons were learned.
