Red Deer by our own Hotspur

Well a big congratulations to one of our own, he has been imaging wildlife of all sorts with some amazing natural images.

At last some of it has paid off, and Chris, (hotspur) has landed an image of a Red Deer on the front cover of Sporting Shooters, magazine March edition,

Congrats mate well done indeed.

Sorry but for some strange reason I can get this image any bigger, but i have had some computer issues today.

Thank you Leon, was a good result,I used the canon 50D and 400 mm L series prime lens,at 1/125th,F5.6 iso 800,was around 5.30 am,and quite tricky to get close to him.But worth getting up early for.Kinda a bizzare feeling walking into a big newsagent today and seeing a photo I took on the front cover of a magazine, that thousands around the country will see.(The royalty payment is quite considerable too,and very nice!)

Here is a link to the image.

I am using advanced home made trail cameras for more wildlife spotting projects.See image below

Apart from lower res, there is no processing on this image.

Thanks Carlos!,and David.

Here you go Leon,a slightly bigger image of the cover shot.
I've been contacted be three scientific bodies from around the country
this week, for usage requests for my wildlife images. So its good to gain
that sort of feed back.

Unfortunately,I cannot post those images here, due to religious beliefs of some members here.

Here is a link to an image that has taken me a long time to get.

I was amazed at how quick the editor of this magazine, got back to me,after I sent him the image, within half an hour,he got back to me say how much it would 'work' as a front cover image, and that I would be paid too-what a hoot, the amount was a very nice figure too.

Keep your eye out for next weekends' 'Weekend Australian' magazine feature of my astrophotography section, and info/story.

Great work Chris.... I haven't bought a shooting magazine for 20 years, might pick that one up as a show of support!
