Nice one. It was level 10 activity here this morning with a Bz of -10! Insanity.

However, it was clouded over. Here's hoping for tonight.

These were just posted in the NZ Weather Forum, and apparently a guy in the vicinity of Queenstown may have got some even better images. (Hard to believe...)

Aurora NZ

Was driving home from Middlemarch to Dunedin when I noticed the white pillars out front. It wasn't even fully dark yet! Went to one of my dark sky sites along the way & just watched. Then decided to taken the camera out & take a few shots, which I had decided not to do everytime there is an Aurora. Spending too much time fiddling with the camera and too little time observing. What made this one special was that the reds were most impressive visually, essentially same brightness as the greens.

Also took a pan (as an afterthought), will post here when I get around to stitching it.

Display all but over by midnight.

Zeiss 35 1.4 on my old 50D

Cheers Mirko

Nice image. Missed it here in Launceston, clouded in unfortunately, although I have seen red visually in the 80's

It's been a bit cloudy today but has been clearing up since dusk.

I should dust off the 40D - just in case.

There was very definitely some activity, but unfortunately high cloud rolled in and obscured most of it.
