Sound of Jupiter - Really?

I know they convert natural radio signal into audio, but is this legit?

Not sure of what process they use, or its legitimacy, but there's 40 minutes of it in that recording. I was done after 30 seconds.

You get similar audio frequency modulation of the geomagnetic field due to the interaction of the solar wind and the geomagnetic field. Any of us old enough to remember HF radio as a long-range communication method will remember the annoying idiot who used to get on air and whistle tunelessly around sunset...
Other solar interactions used to have names like 'lions roar', etc.
I remember the voyager team producing a similar recording to this in the 80s.
Cheers,
Andrew.

I make my own sounds, but they only last a second or so!

30 years ago a mate and I set up a crude array on his property and connected it to a hf radio and listened to Jupiter. Can't recall if it sounded like the recording in the link. From memory it didn't take us long. Lots or wire and star pickets.

There is no way to verify it unless they show the process, so I would take it with a grain of salt. The audio can be manipulated using some open source software to alter the few seconds to extend it. To a scientist the audio on the clip is almost worthless.
