help needed with processing

I have been donated some red green blue and Ha stacks to have a go at processing them but I have not yet done anything other than one shot colour with my D90, I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to begin. I would like to change the file format from FIT to TIFF or something that CS5 and deep sky stacker will read is there a program that will do this?

I think FITS Liberator does this. You can do a stretch and play with the FITS file a bit ( there are a couple of decent tutorials on YouTube ) then you can save them as separate channels ie. R_filename.tif for red. You can combine these in CS5.

Sorry I just re read your post.

I think nebulosity can split the image into rgb components, then you may need FITS liberator to save as a .tiff if nebulosity doesn't.

So am I!
If you used nebulosity and chose " save color components " then it should automatically save three files, each with a prefix for the channel they are. For example R_dainesm42.fit for red etc.
