My attempt at another Eta Carina

Hi all,

I have attempted the Eta Carina nebula, funnily enough for the first time since I started imaging about three months ago.
This image is a stack of 20 x 2min subs @ ISO800 Guided, 10 darks, no bias or flats shot with a Canon 450D on a 8" f4 Newt, Heq5pro Goto mount.
Processed in stacked in DSS, processed in Photoshop CS5.
Can't wait to get a modded cam for these sorts of things but anyway…

Thanks for looking.

Nice job; your reds are much more pronounced than mine, must be the much longer subs.

Thanks Ray. Possibly the longer subs, but also, this is where Photoshop really helps. Even basic curves make a big difference.

Great image Goran. The extra subs really make it.

Hi Bob,
from the point of view of an absolute newbie, apart from trying to get a neutral colour balance across the board, how does one get more colour into the starfield? Sorry if it sounds like a silly question, but I am new to imaging and processing and very keen to pickup any tips and or advice.
Cheers,
Bruce.

Goran,

Really nice image you should be pleased with it. If you only use your 450D for AP you could mod it yourself. I did my 450D before Christmas it only took a couple of hours, no cost as I did not purchase any extra filters as I do not require any. Just a thought if you are interested PM me.
