Howdy
Tried imaging the moon with my new 850nm infrared filter, that I got for daytime use. I was pleasantly surprised how well it goes on the moon.
I took three ISO 100 pics RAW file format, stacked in IRIS the finished off in Photoshop with some mild unsharp masking. IR light is apparently not as affected by seeing, so can give sharp images. The filter passes IR light 850nm and longer. Modded 350D camera on 10 inch f5.6 used.

Thanks all
Yes I took the moon pics as an afterthought just before packing up, wondering "what would happen".
Indeed Jupiter looks tempting to try now with the filter

Thanks.
I took a new image earlier tonight, this time moon near full.
5x iso 100 shots with the infrared filter. Processed same as first shot.
I uploaded a full res. version here http://www.users.on.net/~josiah/infr...so100%20ir.jpg

Thats amazing contrast for a near full Moon! Is it my imagination or are the crater rays more pronounced with IR than with visible? Or is it just the DSO processing?
Thanks
I just adjusted Levels and did one bit of unsharp masking, nothing too fancy. Perhaps the moon's characteristics do change a bit in infrared light.
