Lightning Display near Adelaide [link to new images added]

What a terrific night, unfortunately for me I awoke with Heat stroke and was bed ridden for most of the day, well except for the times I ran to the loo . But I am glad it came after this event...

Great shots Andrew. Looks good over the salt lakes. Next time storms are arriving I should PM you for a catchup. I have posted a couple of shots on another post, a few of us got some good shots. Nice to get the chance here in Adelaide. I had my ISO too high and caused blow out. I should have noticed as the exposure times were very short. What ISO do you use on your shots?

Normally I would have used my Lightning Trigger, but I forgot to take a battery in the rush. I use the trigger on my 40D, but it's in being repaired. I used the old Canon 350d with a shutter timer this time....

Was a cracker of a night and I really like your shots. Great captures

Thanks Mardy,

I use ISO 100 to reduce noise most of the time, sometimes bump it to 200 if they are further away. I don't use a trigger at night, mainly because you don't need to. Bulb setting on the camera and fire away... If it's dark, you can go a long time before it becomes a problem.. many shots were in the range of 1min - 2min exposure times, the closer ones, much shorter.. I try and use the Aperture as the tool to increase or reduce the brightness of the strikes, but as you can see it works sometimes, no all the time... thats the nature of the storm unfortunately, can be predicted, but you would be wrong

Thanks again for the comments, yes would be great to catch up on a chase sometime.
