Robofocus Problem

Hi everyone.

I recently purchased a robofocus from here and i seem to be having trouble getting it to connect to my PC.

I am using a USB to serial adaptor cable which i knows works because it was connecting my Moonlite focuser on another scope i have and it was working fine.

I have all the necessary drivers and software installed and the right COM port selected, in this case "COM7"

every time i try to connect i get the message "No response from Robofocus!"
as can be seen in the attached screen shot.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to ho to overcome this problem?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

John

No offense intended, but everytime I get that message I roll my eyes, walk over and turn the robofocus unit on.
First things first - does the unit work and do the red buttons move the draw tube in and out in the right direction?
Secondly - does the USB-serial converter show up in your devices page, and are the leds on the device indicating activity?
Then, are you using the ASCOM drivers, or the robofocus software? I also had to run the robofocus software in compatibility mode, and as an administrator to get it working.
Cheers,
Andrew.

The problem has been solved.

The software in win 7 works fine.
The USB to serial adaptor works fine.
The rj6 cable was fine

Turns out the db9 to rj6 adaptor that I had installed didn't work with the robofocus. When I tried another one I had lying around it worked like a charm.

So there you go. .......
