Yahoo mail hacked (Washington Post, Feb 2014)

Yahoo has revealed that a number of users’ passwords and usernames were exposed to cyber-attackers who used malicious computer software to gain access to lists of Yahoo Mail credentials.

Cheers

Is the User ID and password for a Yahoo e-mail account the same as, or linked to Yahoo Groups for the various Yahoo Newsgroups? Or, are these different entities?

Cheers

Surely yahoo aren't keeping plaintext passwords anywhere?? Sounds like the hackers got a password hash file and went to work on it....

Might change my yahoo pw to another 30 char random string to be sure....
