Jupiter, Mars & Saturn Jan 26th & 27th

Have only recently returned from holidays and just getting back into the swing of things.

Have attached Jupiter from Jan 27th in good seeing for the alt, the GRS has just gone over the P limb with Oval BA just coming over the F limb and there is some rather nice detail, particularly in IR. Mars from Jan 26th in very ordinary seeing, Syritis Major & surrounds came up ok. Saturn with a nice IR data set & polar projection from Jan 26th, the North Polar hexagon is well resolved and a nice R & RGB from Jan 27th in variable seeing.

Thanks for looking.
Regards
Trevor

welcome back trevor, some very solid data you got there. What exposure settings do you use for each RGB set? I have the same camera as you and im trying to figure out all the settings.

Jupiter and Saturn IR came out really well. It great to have a night of so many planets.

Thanks very much Mark. I never setup with any particular exposure in mind. The settings used reflect the aperture and focal length of the scope / imaging train in use. I am using a 16" scope and to get the plate scale that I want with the particular pixel size of the ASI120MM I am operating at F 16.7 My Flea3 ran at F23.7 to achieve the same plate scale. it had larger pixels.

The things that are priorities to me are the extent to which I fill the histo and the frame rate. For Jove I like to fill the histo to approx 85% for all channels at approx 60 fps and I use whatever gain I need to achieve that.

Using very high gain doesn't worry me, using it at max is fine.
The settings you use will be dependant on the your aperture and imaging train.

Thanks very much Dave, reckon we have much to look forward to over the coming years with Mars, Jove & Saturn all coming significantly South.
