Have you tried a DSLR with your telescope? I mean, if you only want to buy it for astrophotography maybe you can borrow a friend's camera first and see how it goes. I have a DSLR camera and a 5" dob and could not take any good pictures with it. It is a bit to heavy for my focusser and I had been told a camera adapter bracket with a DSLR could break the focusser, so I had to hold it in my hand. It said "subject is too dark" with automatic focus and would not shoot at all. Turning off automatic focus of course blurs the image at night and my hands were shaky because a DSLR is pretty heavy to hold in front of the eyepiece trying to find the perfect focus. So just after Christmas I bought a point-and-shoot camera... I took some nice pics of the moon. With Jupiter it is more challenging (as I think you have mentioned too)! Yesterday I combined a photo of Jupiter where I could see its moons but Jupiter looked like a huge star with one where the moons were not visible but Jupiter had its stripes. It is not worthy of this forum but it is the nicest so far because Jupiter has the stripes and its moons too.
