prorammed bulb exposures

this might seem a backward step./suggestion to some but would it be possible to make a simple timer & cable to operate the bulb setting on the 350d. i know the cable /jack connections are simple so how could you connect a timer to operate the shutter? any thoughts without resorting to a computer and expensive software.

Hi Philip
You can buy an adaptor from aguy that makes them in Austria , to make the the fancy cable release / timer made for the 20D etc fit the 300D and 350D.
I bought one for about $35 works great , some people just cut the end off and solder a micro jack plug but if you upgrade to a 5D or 30D you would need to reverse this . better to buy the adaptor , found the guy on cloudy nights classifieds.
