I am using the auto stretch from the Screen Transfer Function in PI. Then these settings are transferred to the Histogram Transformation.

Video of the method here from Harry Page. These are good vids to start using PixInsight. If an old fart like me can learn how to do it, anyone should be able to.

This is the relevant video ie last half.

Normally it's the stars but I think the field looks too busy...because of the amount of GAS!!

Amazing little scope that Bert

Mike what really helps apart from F3 is using Astrodon 3nm filters and a very low noise camera at -40C, and using dithering with RBI flush and a top mount.

Having the whole optic train in sublime bondage also helps. I have not heard a comment about 'the corner stars' for a while.

To get the same signal to noise with an F5 optic would take far more than 24 hours of subs, as there is about three times more thermal noise per equivalent sub for the slower optic.

The very small white spots that look like residual noise in the Fred version are actually very dim stars below the mask threshold used to eliminate the stars.

The starless certainly gives more nebula 3D effect Bert, excellent. The gif is a nice touch, interesting seeing the direct AB difference.
