I didn't like the Astromeccanica kit...When I puchased mine for the EQ6 I had lots of problems and sent it all back.

Bert has purchased the Astromeccanica set just recently and he sounds very happy with it.

I think the issues have been worked out since I had mine.

What problems did you have?. I would probably like to at least upgrade the EQ6 with Astromeccanica motors. The question is, do I then upgrade to SkyScan for GoTo (won't need laptop like Astromeccanica handcontroller). I will also have the Astromeccanica hand controller if needed. However, do I get the SkyScan or just get a better hand controller to go with the Astromeccanica motor upgrade

hold off a new updatable from net handcontroller with better software and a syncing function is nearly out, maybe by november or december if we are lucky, its the Version 3, and its currently being tested for "Australian " conditions to iron out the bugs. I cant wait!

Cool. Do you have any idea of the cost? I assume it would cost less if i got it all in one compared to if I upgraded the mount later down the track. The problem is, I can't wait that long...doh! I have a TAL 200K OTA begging to be taken outside

Furthermore, I will be overseas for a month from end of Dec-end Jan.....double doh!

More that likely the current flash on the 2.05b controllers isnt large enough the be just changed over to the new system, obviously there is a few more things in it, but just to change the flash you would also need to change the firmware that allocates the space in the flash and also the drivers. Should be interesting when it does come out. I think houghy's guestimate of $300 would be about right, can't see it being that much more.
