Yes, it almost never leaves the Atik nosepiece, it is SO sludgy around here it almost makes me want to leave or at least go narrowband with a mono camera.
I'm in Padstow , Chris. Lots of street lights and one neighbour is paranoid about burglaries and has movement sensing lights-his dog trips them all the time. Lucky if I can see more than 3rd magnitude stars sometimes!
Yes, I am contemplating going NB with a mono camera once I finish the obs (or get it started first)....
too much light pollution to try and process out, its very annoying.
Cheers
Chris
Well done Chris for trying a galaxy from the middle of that slightly light polluted country town of Sydney, the result is not bad at all and was worth doing I recon
You may recall, for the first 18 months I used the AG12 ( a fast wide field astrograph so hates light pollution) from inner suburban Newcastle which is as bad and perhaps even worse than Kellyville the light pollution was bad (and so was the seeing) so I didn't image galaxies and I used NB filters almost exclusively (never a light pollution filter) and I can say, you can get some very respectable images this way. I learned to combine my NB data with my colour data to produce RGB looking images too...so go with that observatory mate Of course using a scope under dark (and steady!) skies makes a big difference...did I mention the wind
I do recall some of those images and also the amount of LP you used to have.
Mine is sort of a "dirty" sludge which pervades the whole frame, something I noticed wasnt there when in the Hunter Valley for IISAC.
I started the framework for my "pier" yesterday, but a bit hottish today so after some minor sunburn I think I might wait until later to sort out the mounting plate and start the concrete.
