IISAC2015 Potential Dates...

Looking at March 19-21, 2015.

Not in school holidays, not too close to any public holidays (Easter is 3rd April or so), and 2 months away from SPSP (which would likely be May again).

Any thoughts good or bad about that?

Any day without a huge storm would be nice

It's still daylight savings (which doesn't bother me). Astronomical twilight ends at 8:30pm which means a later start to observing or imaging however, we probably wont feel as rushed when organising something for dinner.

I'm good with it. Count me in

Rod

Works for me. The sky is not much different to an April date. Will probably mean later nights with daylight saving and Sagittarius rising after midnight. On the flip side, there will be more time for socialising at dinner time before it gets dark, and we should see less dew in March. It seems to get pretty damp down by the creek. I will put it in the diary.

I'm with Rod, another hour or of light in the evening wouldn't hurt and I rarely get to the eyepiece before 8 or 8:30pm anyway.

+1 on "when does registrations open"

Definitely marking those dates in my calendar!

Mike,

I would like to see it back in the Sept/Oct time of year. SPSP has always been in March/May, so the other great NSW star party would be better placed in the spring time.

I'd like to see it back toward the end of the year as well. It was always lovely to have Wiruna in the first half of the year and another star party to look forward to in the second, but I can't get to them both so close together (and as a long term member of ASNSW, Wiruna will always win out). AND the second half of the year is warmer, which is a big bonus for me, AND a different part of the sky.

But March 2015 is out for me anyway - I'll be in Svalbard :-)
