I saw it!!!!

I'm sure for most of you seasoned campaigners it'll be a case of "been there...seen that.."

But I had my first naked eye view of a space shuttle/ISS flyover this morning.

It appeared in the southwest of our skies here in canberra around 6.32am

I was surprised how bright it was.

It started to fade by the time it reached an easterly direction.

very cool.

We've got a better (higher) view coming up thursday morning.

Hi, I was out looking on Saturday night and I saw something that looked as bright as a star falling fairly quickly down toward the horizon, probably a little south of east. It was falling too quickly for me to line it up and see it through my scope. Any ideas what that would have been anyone??

I'm a couple of hundred+ plus kms south of you at around 8pm? a lil
after the All Blacks victory I observed a rather bright meteor to
the south. What time did you observe it? may of seen the same thing.
It was heading directly down from around the SCP with a slight easterly
direction.

There are a 3-4 active showers throughout July with 7 active at the
months end. the Southern Delta-Aquarids is the one to look out four.
If you like imaging this type of thing, around the 28th July would be
a good chance for wide field (fisheye lens) long exposures. You might
capture multiple meteors.

regards,CS sunny days

Hi Matt, yes I think it would have been around 8pm and it was going straight down. Hmm, might have to get out on the 28th and see what I can see...

Saw it this morning, very bright, couldn't get it in the scope though and clouds played their part too.

Well done.

Thursday morning 6.04am will be pretty special here.

It's going to reach an elevation of 88 degrees...
