First photos of the moon (and Jupiter)

... taken with a 12-year old 5 megapixel digital camera I had discarded after buying my new one... Nothing special.... but I was happy that I finally found a way to take sort of acceptable (recognizable) photos... Scope: Heritage 130p. The lens was the 10mm one that came with the scope. No Barlow lens or filters yet (I will order them after Christmas). So all VERY basic equipment. I don't totally dislike them (they will be better with some post-work, maybe more contrast and sharpening). You can see the rays in the craters for example and I find that cool... Unfortunately I had not used that camera for a long time and somehow the SD card failed after I had taken some really nice pics (and the computer said I had to format it).

So I had to start all over again, but this time the card was fine. I will keep my eyes open on Boxing Day in case there are some bargains for better point-and-shoot cameras.

They are better than my first photos. Keep at it. Practice makes perfect.

I am not sure I can do much more with this camera, but I really intend to buy a new one soon. It is very old (one of the very first digital cameras) and I remember that they said it is for landscapes and not "details" or close-ups. And I paid almost 500 dollars for it back then... Technology has improved a lot, so even a cheap new camera will be better than the old one.
