Guiding through scope and using a camera lens

One of these days I am going to try some widefield shots with my Nikon lenses on the mount tracking.

I was thinking I could actually guide by fitting my guide camera to the main scope. That would be say 900mm guiding a 200mm or wider lens.

Sounds crazy but would that be workable?

I need to mount my main scope anyway to do the polar alignment so may as well use it for guiding!
