Power line inspection helicopter.

Picked up some remote activated cameras from a property this morning. In the property runs a huge power line from Tarong to Brisbane.I was just driving home when this very noisy helicopter came in low,and buzzed around the one tower I was passing underneath.Unfortunately I did not have my 50D and 400 mm lens. But did have a 5D and 24-105 L,only had the 5d a week,so thought I'd try it,not really suited to this photography but was keen to give it a try.The images looked rather crappy on back of camera-but looked better on screen at home.

So here is the little noisy chopper,it spent at least half an hour at this tower,I hoped it was going to spend that much time at the other two on the property -so I could go home at get the 400 mm,but alas after it finished its inspection-it buzzed away over the Blackbutt Range,Brisbane bound.Certainly some skill on the pilot,as tall trees and close to tower.I wonder if this kinda job will be replaced by remote drones-someone could do this job in a office tower in Brisbane in future.

Higher res here.

Kerosene as fuel!

Reminds me a bit of the chopper in 'Magnum P.I' from the eighties.

It made A LOT of noise-hope it has not scared my dingoes away.
