new telrad anywhere in brisbane?

anyone in brisbane know if I can pick one up in town somewheres?
I recall an astronomy store down the valley some years (probably many )
back .. but don't have much of a clue where else to look

The shop you want is York Optical in Fortitude Valley, St Paul's Terrace, just 5 min walk from Brunswick St station. Give them a call on 3252 2061. I've had a Telrad for 12 years and am on my second battery!! They are the best - solid and FULLY ADJUSTABLE LIGHT OUTPUT not like those fancy tiny little finders with tiny expensive batteries. I just phoned them. temporarily out of stock - you'll have to wait a week or so, he said. Definitely worth the wait

Just got my Telrad down here in SA (from Bintel).
It dews up at the drop of a hat though!
I'll be moving up to Brisbane soon - do you have the same dewing problems up there? I was there a year ago observing with binos and had no problems as I recall!

It has been very dewy the last few weeks at home, supose it would be the same in brisbane.

I havent had any problems with dewing up for a long time, then Saturday night whilst imaging the Moon with my Meade imager and Autostar software, halfway through the session, the little box that shows "image quality" started showing 0%. I thought this crazy, so went outside and gazed up at the Moon. There she was shining nice and bright. Went inside and still 0%. Took me a while to suss out that it was indeed the front lens completely fogged up!
It is the dry season here for goodness sake - so yes, Brissie does get dew>
Guess what I made yesterday - a dew shield from an old foam rubber sleeping bag and some contact glue. looks odd but I am hopeful it will work - otherwise its the wife's hairdryer.

I'm seriously thinking about getting one of those little flip over telrad dew shields - even if it gives me a few minutes more use it'll be worth it.

Once the dew sets in your observing night is over!! Telrad is always the first to go,then 8x50 finder and then the EP.

A back copy of AS&T had an ad for Sirius Optics in Underwood selling Telrads and accessories.

Doug just thought we would let you know we tried the Telrad Dew Guard with Flip Mirror and a Heater.

The heater is magic and works so well on its own we don't use the Dew Guard.

In the heavy dew the Dew Guard did not cope - We tried it !

Get yourself a heater and you will have no more problems with dew. It's worth every dollar spent

I've got a telrad dew shield and one with the dew shield + (with the mirror to make it usuable looking down)...

The telrad dew shield works and looks nice...I am not a big fan of the dewshiled + (with the mirror) it works okay but not as well as I wanted it to...

There are many other solutions for dew preventation too...it is very easy to make one yourself and for a long time I used an old "foam" stubby holder (worked like a champ) placed over the telrad...
