I am considering to buy ONE scope that would encompass ALL my needs. It is an expensive scope, so to justify it, I am contemplating selling 2 other scopes.
NOTE: AT THIS STAGE, IT IS EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST ONLY
1. Vixen FL102S refractor. 102mm doublet. f/9 natively, with the dedicated reducer, it is f/6.3 (starting range for astrophotography). No modifications apart from a prior owner adding an integral dew heater ni-chrome ring to the objective cell perimeter - easily removed if desired. Absolute legendary visual scope, still ahead of most more modern and far more expensive examples. This one also is an AD-VIX badged example, which meant it was retained and specially picked for Japanese internal sale. The contrast and pinpoint focus on this is unbelievable. The standard R&P focuser is sweet, and holds a LOT of weight without flex or slip. would come with an illuminated right angle finder and tube rings (dedicated Vixen rings).
Suggested price: $2000 with postage about $90 additional (I will ONLY send by Pack N Send because of the glass insurance)
2.
I may additionally sell either a GPD2 mount with Synscan controller, or a Sphinx SXW with the NexW board fitted (uses Celestron software - via laptop - no hand controller). Would INCLUDE the original SXW Starbook motor board and Starbook hand controller (more like a tablet). At this stage I am undecided which mount to keep, as BOTH track incredibly well (20 minute subs no issue with either)
FL102S first, both together then DED108SS by itself (guidescope, camera, and mount will NOT be included)
