Hail...AGAIN!

HAd large storm come through the other day - we got thumbnail sized hail, yet 3km away they got golf ball size, and 10km away, my father had his car windscreen cracked, the bonnet and roof hammered, and his verandah cover destroyed.

Today, a freak storm developed and immediately started hailing. Not much rain, mainly hail. This time we got it up to 20 cent size, and enough to white out the lawn. Seeing we have only space in the garage for one car (the SUV), the other was out in it - I quickly covered it with the car cover, then threw over old woolen blankets, a carpet and some rubber mats to at least stop any damage.

And now it is almost 2/8ths cloud now...

Freaky weather lately. More coming for sure.

Just finished sitting through our first round of hail for this storm season. We missed the big stuff but it must have been close. The grass and road was covered with ice, the average size being similar to a 5 cent coin.

Hi Lewis,
We had pea size hail about 15mins ago. The wind was worse. Blew in all directions.
Its passed now and still hearing the parting shots of thunder. Its a relief stage now. Nicely quiet until the next storm.

Someone has got some confessing to do. Who got early Christmas toys? Hmmm????

I literally haven't had a hail storm for 25 years.

Mostly pea-sized where I was, but a few larger ones.

As I was out and about at the time, I hurriedly moved my car to under cover (in a multi-story car park) just in case. The distinctly green sky was enough warning, thankfully.

We had what I'd call gravel size hail at our place. The cloud had a green tinge and it made for an impressive view from the road - see attached....

PS We're having a new carport put in and the old one has been torn down. Just had to sit and hope the cars were OK! I guess we were always going to get storms once I demolished the old carport!!!

Scary stuff, these storms can be very destructive.
We had a disastrous storm come through in Feb, 2005 causing massive damage to our property.
These photos were taken 3 days later and the hail stones were still massive even though they had melted somewhat.

I live in Coomera at present and two of the four shade sails around me are destroyed. The streets and complexes here are a mess, like a tornado has come through as the hail and winds smashed and ripped its way through roofs, trees, clear light roofing etc.

Looks unusual like a deserted town where no one has cleaned up in years ( The Walking Dead!) in the streets and white, white white everywhere.

I was on the motor way when the hail hit on the M1. What a drama as some pulled over to seek shelter from anything, overpasses, trees on side of motorway etc, risking a huge crash and some didn't seem to care at all and just kept on truckin!
