Fast Shipping.

I bought an 07 BMW R1200RTP cop bike a couple of months ago. It had been sitting for at least 2 years so I stripped it back, did the service ritual on it etc but the tyres where dated early 2010 and very hard. They sort of skipped around. The front was flat and siting on a side stand for that long warped it

Michelin have a new Pilot Road GT tyre for tourers and BMW has changed from Metzler to these Michelins as the stock tyre for the R1200RT series. So, the michelin factory is running flat out making tyres for every new police bike and touring bike coming out of BMW. This means you can't get one of those tyres here in Oz. They told me a boat load is due in 8 weeks

I ordered a pair from Jake Wilson in Utah USA, also know as rocky mountain ATV Bike warehouse. They shipped them via DHL on Monday 5pm our time an they where delivered to my door at 1PM today, Thursday.

They charged US$75 delivery. I still can't believe it. They left Sydney at 6am this morning Brisbane time and at the door 7 hours later. 3.5days from utah to here.

Just like xmas

I live near Melbourne and have got car parts from Texas faster than I can get them from Melbourne! The last lot took longer to get from tulla to kilmore than Texas to tulla.

It is a bit sad actually.

That's DHL though. I got stuff sent from California to my hotel in New York on our recent trip over there and Ted at the beemer shop said it's normal for stuff to take 2 weeks just to cross the country with USPS. Sounds worse than Austpost

I've had four experiences in the last two weeks.

1. Put in a support ticket with a supplier in the USA on Thursday arvo, Sydney time, and the part (actually two, free of charge, free shipping, thanks PPI) was waiting for me at work on Monday morning. Amazing.

2. Requested a spare part, again from the USA, 7pm Friday Sydney time, and the part beat me to work on Monday! Really amazing.

3. Ordered parts from NZ, took one week. Average.

4. Shipped a package from Sydney to the USA. Sent on Tuesday morning Sydney time, tracking shows it still sitting in Sydney Thursday night.......

Unfortunately that's the difference between Australian and American service, regularly.

Cheers,
Jason.
