Spiky Horse Head, Unmodded Canon 1100D.

Hi,

I recently adjusted my vanes on the 8" f/ astrograph, and thought I'd do a Horse Head with bright star Zeta Orion in the Field.
Sure makes for dramatic spikes!!

This is the third time for the Horse head region and I think my best so far. I'm happy with the definition that's come out in the HA curtain.
Quite a lot of processing to get this with the unmodded 1100D.

Equipment used.
8” F/4 astrograph , baader type 3 coma corrector,. HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Camera.
Unmodded Cannon 1100D.

10 x 8 minute subs an 10 x 5 minutes, ISO 1600, darks, flats and bias frames applied.
Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker .Processed in Photoshop 7.

Cheers,

Justin.

Looks good Justin, I tried this little fella as well last night but gave up due to light pollution and battery running flat. Your spikes are looking good.

Top job with the 1100 and another big thumbs up for the diffraction spikes

Must be great to just drop outside and start using the scope.

Really a very good result with the 1100d. Doesn't matter how many times you see the old nag, it's always a pleasure when presented nicely!

Great colors. Maybe a tad soft with smoothing, maybe noise reduction.

The spider vanes were out of alignment producing double spikes. It took a couple of goes to get them right.

Yep, I went a little heavy on the adaptive filter in IRIS.

Cheers,

Justin.
