Sounds like I will be spending an "astronomy-free" week! Shame I can't take the new 10" newt on the plane as hand-luggage!!!

There is an astronomy group in Townsville, Look in the back of the Astronomy 2006 book for contact details. I've talked to their contact Charles before he's very approachable. Oh and have a nice relaxing holiday David, Townsville has a lot to offer visitors.

Thumbs up

Greetings all

Well I came back from a beautiful week last week in Townsville. Stayed just north of there in a beach house - no TV, no phone, no internet, no e-mail and mobile coverage only if you walked down to the beach! The kids even remained mostly calm the entire week!

I also caught up with ChunkyLad, who kindly invited me to have coffee at his place. It was a delightful morning, and I really want to say thanks to David for his hospitality. Had the chance to attend their field night too, but other commitments stopped that.

We swapped stories and experiences, and I got the chance to drool over his 12" dob - very nice. And he has a great storage facility for the scope too!

I can certainly recommend a trip North to everybody, and if ChunkyLad is anything to go by, the folks from the Townsville club are champs!
