ASCOM Platform now supports video devices

The following is from the Yahoo ASCOM Initiative Discussion List on the release of ASCOM Platform 6.1 RC1. http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/A...messages/31015

Hi all,

We have just posted a release candidate for Platform 6.1. This update is primarily to introduce an interface and support utilities for video devices and an updated switch interface that can handle multi-position switches, rheostat like controllers and digital sensors.

In addition, the installer now has a clean-up tool that will enable installation to proceed even if the installed Platform becomes seriously corrupted as well as an improved driver template installer.

Platform 6.1 requires .NET Framework 4 or later and the installer will request manual installation if this is not present. C++ libraries v10.0 are also required but will be installed automatically, if needed, during Platform installation.

The Platform release notes are here: http://www.ascom-standards.org/Help/Platform/Index.html and the developer release notes are here: http://www.ascom-standards.org/Help/...per/Index.html

The installers are here:
http://download.ascom-standards.org/...tform61RC1.exe

http://download.ascom-standards.org/...veloperRC1.exe

These have been extensively tested by the Platform team and are considered reliable, please let us know your experiences when installing and using the Platform.

Many thanks,

Platform Development Team

Some planetarium programmes should include a video client shortly so contact your software supplier if this addition is of interest to you.
