Supanova, Brisbane

Hi all!

The things you'll do for your youngest son! Yesterday my son and I ventured to the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane to go to Supanova. I'm still not quite sure if this is an opportunity to buy lots of sc-fi/cartoon/comic/fantasy stuff or to dress up as your favourite character. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and I've attached some portraits from the day.

The pictures are:

1. George RR Martin, author of A Game of Thrones.
2. A most unusual Tardis!
3. Batman
4. A Sand Trooper. (I made the mistake of saying it was a Storm Trooper.. "Oh dad, don't you know anything!")
5. Star Wars meets Halo meets Men In Black!

Cheers,
Mario

PS If you wondered who I went as, I went as my all time favourite super-hero, Mario Vecchi!
PPS I know none of these people in the photos but they all seemed happy to have their pictures taken, even striking a pose!

Looks like a fund day out Mario – thanks for this fascinating insight into this parallel dimension that these folks dwell in!

Cheers

I was at Southbank with my family on Saturday. A fair few were in costume there as well and walking to the RNA. It would have been a steam bath in some of those outfits.

My boy says he/she is in a Clone Trooper (Phase 1) Commander Cody, BUT the helmet looks wrong. I will to take him to Supernova when he is a little older.

Parallel dimension - now that's a perfect description!

From next year Supernova will be at the Convention Centre so it won't be so warm as it was yesterday at the RNA!

Yes, when I saw this Tardis all I could say was "Doctor Who?"

Cheers,
Mario

I have other puns regarding the Tardis Lady, but some may be easily offended

Where is my Tardis key...

Me, too. That gives me an idea for a book: 1001 Uses For a Sonic Screwdriver - Adults Only Edition.

I went to Supernova on the Gold Coast last year (not in costume!). Much fun. Couldn't make it to this one.

Nice shots, Mario.
