Mike has cornered the market with Jupiter; Tony and his new beaut Meade RC own DSLR deep sky; Eric is a one man DSO production line; the Moon’s not up so, what is a man to do?
Well, Sunspot 898 looked interesting on SpaceWeather, so I decided to do some solar imaging as today was clear, although windy. Seeing was pretty bad although there were fleeting moments of remarkable clarity.
I dragged out the Vixen 4 inch refractor and fitted the (warning) Baader solar astro film which is for photography only, not visual.
Great pics theres Dennis. The lighter penumbra shows an interesting phenomena of what could be a 'gaseous ejection' into the dark penumbra Which is cooler than the overall photosphere.
Amazing
There would seem to be very little that you can't do very well Dennis! Those images are sharp enough for a doctor to make a diagnosis by... I'd say get it removed before the cancer spreads...
