Freight insurance

I'm trying to buy some gear from another IIS member and I want to get it covered for the trip to WA with E-Go. It shouldn't be this hard I've filled in online quote forms and only one got back to me and they would seem to be dodgy and have a clause that they only cover total loss hidden in the fine print. Other companies are only interested if I freight the good with them. Brokers are not returning my calls. E-Go themselves only cover $1K and the gear I'm buying totals $6.5K. Has anyone got suggestions or good experiences to share?

all the best

Paul

Not exactly what you want, but ...

Pack and Send will insure (if you ship with them) including glass (which includes glass in telescopes) whereas other freight companies I've looked at specifically exclude glass.

As for separate insurance, the last time I looked was a few years ago but I couldn't find anything suitable/value-for-money then. It sounds like things haven't changed.

Pack and send with the insurance is $1000. E-Go is $355 + $45 for $1K insurance??

My quote difference wasn't that much ... about $100 with E-Go (no worthwhile insurance, seeing as they wouldn't cover glass) vs. Pack and Send $170 (including full-value insurance of $1200, including glass in telescope).

Just trying to help.

It was a great help thank you... As soon as I saw your post I immediately went to pack and send and spoke with a rep in Queensland. He said he can't even buy the freight for what E-Go is charging. I must investigate wether the Insurance cover from my Master Card Platinum or PayPal will provide some protection. Thanks again for your help

all the best
