Canon 400D software with Windows 8

Hi guys

Well the trials and tribulations of using Windows 8 with my new laptop continue.

I have got most software to work but have only now discovered that my 400D EOS software does not want to work with Windows 8. So doing remote shooting work looks impossible now unless I simply connect and disconnect the camera and look at images in the file manager.

Is anyone using an older style EOS camera such as a Canon 400D with Windows 8?

My only saviour may be the Backyard EOS software which I have just requested a trial for.

Although my camera is coming up to 6 years old now I would have though that Canon would have Windows 8 software for older cameras surely??

Clear skies to all.

John K.

Use the eso utility for win 7 x64 if your using a 64bit build of win 8. Download it from the canon site.

Have done that - still no good. Although I have been able to get the camera to now save the images into a folder on the PC once I plug and unplug the camera but not using the EOS utility.

Looks like Backyard EOS is the way to go - working a treat at the moment on my dinning table - cannot wait for next new moon session!
