Saturn 17th October

At 9 degrees above the Brisbane horizon in twilight, Saturn was a wobbly wavy mess. However, the use of an IR filter made for a much clearer image than normally expected. Attached is a stacked image of the planet along with the Red, Green and Blue channels recorded by the camera. The shadow on the rings is very much foreshortened as the planet is about 2 and a half weeks before superior conjunction. Also attached is a single video frame out of the camera.

Thanks for looking,

Tom

I think that's the last I'll see of Saturn until next year. Well done.
