How to connect QHY5L ii to ST80

Hi all

I am looking at connecting my QHY5L ii camera to my ST80 guidescope for guiding.

There is not enough back travel in the focuser to bring the camera into focus. I used a borrowed diagonal on the weekend to bring it into focus but I want a straight through setup with a minimum possibility of flexure, would prefer screw in fittings rather than slide in type barrels.

Can someone tell me specifically what I need to buy. I was on the phone to BINTEL for half an hour Tuesday telling them what I needed to do and they eventually recommended an adapter. The bits I bought arrived today they don't allow a connection. A bit frustrating as this is hardly exotic stuff, we are talking an ST80 and a 1.25" diameter guide camera.

If someone is familiar with this gear and knows what I need I would appreciate some specific advice. I have researched around the net but everyone seems to just buy T2 extenders of 40-60mm to increase the distance, not sure how actually works though, I can see this extends off the back of the focus tube but how does the 1.25" camera plug in?

thanks
Brett

Hi Brett,
I think this is what you'll need.

If you look here

The package comes with one of these to connect the camera to the scope.
I did the same as you and bought some of the bits but with an Orion guide camera..reportedly very similar to your QHY.
Hope that helps.

Ken.
