AR1857 and Huge Prom (Now with full disk)

Seeing was a bit ratty today but I took the opportunity anyway to image a large prominence on the limb and AR1856 and AR1857. Some interesting detail.

Edit

Click here for large solar disk with prominence lifting off. YES IT IS THAT GOOD

Wonderfull prom catch Paul. Unfortunately I was at work when I got an SMS about it. Nice to see it in fine detail.

Thanks guys,

Ted I caught it lifting off about 4pm today. It was just hanging off the Sun. Probably about 400,000 km up and just attached at one end. I will try to post an image that is half reasonable. Seeing was terrible this afternoon.

Some quite tantalising detail in the prom image Paul, despite the “ratty seeing”– great captures and nice processing.

Cheers

Thanks all,

it seems that Tony Phillips from Spaceweather.com thought it was good too. Made it to the front page. It has been years since I have made the front cover of Spaceweather. Pretty stoked.

Yeah – congrats Paul, I just saw your image over there; it’s nice to make the front page too!

Cheers
