SMC mosaic, nearly there.

Hi,

Here's the latest on my SMC mosaic.

I'm learning as I go with this, processing is quite different to a single frame.
21 panels so far 20 hours, another 4 panels will hopefully do it.

Also a link to pbase for a larger version.

Cheers,

Justin.

Nice work, Justin! I got nearly all of that in one frame with my FSQ-106ED and STL11K but you would have much better resolution

Mosaics are difficult to balance out the histograms but worth it in the end and your monster is definitely worth it. The biggest I have ever done is only 6 frames nothing of this size, that is a massive effort. I used it to show my daughter the beauty and size of deep sky objects.

Great work

Justin.

Hell'a'va project that Justin and mate it looks pretty bloody good in large on Pbase, look at all those pinpoint stars. I like the jagged edge mozaic look too, looks kinda scientific like a Mars mozaic from an orbiter

Great work Justin, great effort. I agree with Mike where the edges make the image look like a scientific image. You really have to get a modded camera :-) although the old girl is doing an awesome job on its own.

Yep, had to do another panel for that little strip.

Thanks Rick!

Wouldn't be nice to get the resolution in one image.

Glad you like it, definitely tricky to get right.

Thanks Mike!

Wish it was more scientific, it's really rather a confused muddle of panels. With having to redo some, filling in missing sections it's become a mess but getting there.
Next time I'll put a bit more thought in before attempting another large mosaic.
