Beginners Moon mosaic

Hi all, I thought it was time I presented an image to the experts rather than my FB friends It's a 6 panel mosaic stitched together by ICE, data bagged using my EOS1000D, 8" GSO and 2x Barlow. The focus is not quite as sharp as the segment I snapped the previous evening on my first go out, but I'm quite pleased with it as a first crack.
Comments welcomed.
Thanks

I have seen this softness in my own 1000D images. I put it down partly to the low pass filter, which I remove when modding a DSLR, because it has an antialiasing effect. A focus mask will help - rechecking focus periodically. Atmospherics, instability is a possibility as well. Food for thought anyway. Sharp crisp moon shots at full moon are difficult, because there is little contrast - flat looking.

Thanks guys.
I just could not get quite as crisp a focus on the shots for the mosaic as I did for the previous evenings Tycho shot. An obvious difference was the atmospherics. It had been a hot day here with quite a lot of haze. And it was taken quite early evening over the warm roof of the house. I'll try using liveview through the laptop next time and a better position.
Interesting to hear about the softness Rowland. I was surprised and a little disappointing by the flatness. This camera won't be getting modded, as it's my only decent(ish) camera. I did tweak the mosaic a fair bit in DPP to try and get some of the contrast back. The Tycho shot is as it came out of the camera but cropped.
As a first go with dslr and newt, both sessions put a big smile on my face and got a "wow" from my wife and boys. All part of the gaining knowledge. Onwards and,er, upwards!
Thanks again

It's a great result Chris, aside from all that. Quite a buzz when you create your first image, and much better than many first attempts. Hang on to the 1000D. If you ever replace it, it will make a great little project for spectrum and cool modding. Very robust little camera.
