This is a fantastic opportunity for those that love the sublime telescopes of yesteryear, when the mechanicals were strong, solid and most telescopes significantly better made than they are today. Plus many optics (including this one) custom selected, hand crafted and hand corrected
. This unit has a USA custom hand crafted and corrected lens, and was made for a major collection in the USA. The optic is exceptional, and is not a Japanese lens as one of you has queried.
This unit was custom hand crafted to a standard, not to a cost. It is absolutely gorgeous, the images offer the
brilliance that is expected from a exceptional optic, which many of you will never have experienced, as the vast majority of production telescopes today have fat star shapes and do not compare with exotica such as this unit.
I am in the process of expanding by CZJ telescope collection, as there is nothing that compares with their gear. I recently purchased a CZJ AS80/1200. My goal is to further expand this CZJ collection, but this means that the AP 80/900 is simply never going to get used again.
Sitting in a box for the next few decades isn't what this unit deserves, so I am moving it on.
I have a barely ever used this Astro Physics 80mm. The capability of this unit is absolutely stunning, it's optics are staggeringly good, it's simply that my goal is enhancing a growing collection of CZJ's, what more do I need to say
The system comes with a brand new set of tube rings, plus an Otseki (a name hardly any of you will recognise, they make the finderscopes for Takahashi) 7X50 finder & bracket.
Of note is the focuser, it's R&P is super butter smooth, so much that you look at the premier Crayford's of today and say they're lower in capability.
Performance is as you would expect from Astro Physics, superb !!
It's condition is excellent, and it's performance is massively better than anything that you would consider under about $ 4k in a new refractor today.
This unit is rare, exceptionally rare. It's optical capability is so much better than any new telescope three times the price it isn't funny. It's simply that I have a growing CZJ collection, and further enhancing this is my goal, but this is a horrendously expensive task - so the AP needs to go
