Thinking of selling my gear....but how much$$$???

Hi all, I am thinking of selling my scope set up but unsure of how much I should ask for it??

Its a Celestron CPC 1100 mounted on a celestron pro wedge, Celestron 80mm Guidescope, Orion Star Shoot Auto Guider, celestron 6.3 focal reducer, Meade 4000 series eyepieces,, Various filters. Imaging source DBK21AU618 for planetary/Lunar. 1200mah power tank. It has been stored always off the wedge and under a cover indoors. Works perfectly I just don't have the time to use it so thinking of passing it on....what should I ask for all this????

i think you should research it a bit try googling your scope. you might be better selling some gear individually

I have looked into it a little the new CPC 1100's go for $5000 new but cant find anything on them secondhand......just want a rough idea so I can move it on.....would hate to separate it all as its a great set up how it is at the moment......

well write out each item you bought for the setup and the price you paid for it, then you work out a price for each and add them up. like a car show room condition doesnt make it new, just better value

i cant tell you what your gear is worth - just my opinion. you must have some expectation - then the market dictates the rest. People look at age, condition, function, cost to deliver and they make their own judgements on whether or not its worth it? include some photos and a description. list all details as what you consider valuable may not be to others, ie camera?

the other thing is if you have a lot of emotional attachment then get it out and use it - dont sell it. you already own something that can give you pleasure

Sum up all the add-ons and accessories you may have added on top of the original price of the scope then start at 2/3rd of the total value.

Yep start there only if the gear is like new .

Thanks guys, Will do, Still looks and works like new, might just start with around $4000 for everything and see what intersest it gets......

For second hand gear in good condition up to 3 years old would attract a price of as much as 2/3 of the original value. Don't sell it for tuppance, stick it out to get the price you want and ignore the lowballers.

Thanks bart, It is just off 12 months old, I got it late October last year, Hardly used as I am away to much for work so i when I am home now I find myself spending all my time with my family. It is still like new, Not a mark on it, The celestron Guide scope is still in the box, Never used..... if I got $4000 I would be happy just to have moved it on and get some space back. :-)

My rule of thumb with selling gear is look at the price of the item new. Look at how much you paid for it. Those two prices are not normally the same as pricing goes up and down. I then say it is about 3/4 of what a new item is and that is about right. You need to have someone come along who wants the gear too.

I don't know of anyone who sold all their gear as a complete setup. You should consider selling off items individually as some people might want one bit and nothing else. Better to sell that one bit than sell nothing.
